UNH Commits Update: Final 2021-22 Statistics

This updated table shows the final scoring statistics, penalty minutes and +/- ratings (where available) from the 2021-22 season for the 22 players committed to play for the University of New Hampshire. It includes my projection on the players who will join the 2022-23 UNH roster. The first 8 are incoming freshmen and the next 4 are from the NCAA transfer portal. In subsequent a post, I'll highlight notable achievements by these committed players.

The statistics for the commits, presented in the above table, are categorized by the projected year they will enroll in UNH. For example, the "2022 Commits" are projected to begin playing for UNH in the Fall of 2022. I have based these projections on the following factors:
~ Number of UNH players leaving the team at the end of the previous season and the position they played.
~ If a National Letter of Intent has been signed.
~ The year the commit and UNH coaches originally targeted for enrollment in UNH.
~ How old the commit would be upon admission.
~ Number of years in junior hockey prior to admission.
~ The commit's performance in recent seasons as well as injuries.
~ Anticipated date of high school graduation.

2022 NHL Entry Draft

Over the next two days, the 32 NHL teams will conduct the 60th Annual Entry Draft at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The first round begins at 7 PM on July 7th with rounds 2-7 beginning at 11 AM on July 8th. A total of 225 players will be drafted.

Two incoming freshmen for the University of New Hampshire Wildcats could very well hear their names called - goaltender Tyler Muszelik (7/1/04) and defenseman Damien Carfagna (12/12/02).

~ Against top American-born prospects eligible for 2022 NHL Draft in BioSteel All-American Game, only goalie to shut out opponents (see video).

~ Two-way specialist, quarterbacked power play, regular on penalty kill.
~ High performance in important games (see video).
Cons:
~ Relatively undersized for an NHL defenseman prospect.
