Future 'Cat, Eric Knodel

USHR reports - and I have it on good authority - that defenseman, Eric Knodel, has committed to the University of New Hampshire and will be set to matriculate in the fall of 2010.

An alumnus of the Philadelphia Jr Flyers, Eric will be joining three fellow alums of the program - Matt Campanale, Matt DiGirolamo and Greg Manz - upon his arrival in Durham.

According to USHR and the Jr Flyers, Eric selected UNH above offers from Michigan State and Colorado College after having been selected in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A staggering 6'6" and 216 lbs, Knodel will bring an obvious presence to the blueline and be able to cover a substantial amount of ice on "Lake Whitt".

Judging by his interview with McKeen's from this past March, he is most definitely a man on a mission. Knodel will next take on the 2009-2010 season with the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL where he'll likely hope to produce similar numbers from this past season - a very nice 13 goals and 38 assists in 51 games.

Have a great season, Eric! And welcome to Wildcat Nation!
