UNH Recruits Update: Dec-9-2013
2014 UNH Wildcat Shane Eiserman |
Player of the Week - Shane Eiserman
18-year-old Shane Eiserman had his sights set on the University of New Hampshire from an early age. In a recent article on Yahoo Sports, Shane said:"Growing up, there was always a rivalry with my brothers [William and Christopher] when we played street hockey. I wanted to be UNH and they wanted to be BC [Boston College]. I kind of wanted to go against them. I fell in love with that college and its program. From probably five years old that's where I wanted to go. My godmother [Christie Hill], for my Christmas present she used to always get me a UNH shirt and some tickets. When I signed [his NCAA letter of intent], she teared up a bit."For the native of West Newbury, Massachusetts, the road to Durham has included stops at St. John's Prep in Danvers, MA, Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, and the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This season, Eiserman is finishing his senior year in high school and playing for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL.
Eiserman has identified "confidence with the puck" as an objective for his final year of junior hockey. As his performance last week shows, Shane is achieving his goal. On Saturday night, the 6'2", 200 lbs., power forward potted two goals in the Saints 6-5 victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks. The night before, Eiserman dished the primary assist on the game-winning goal against Team USA. The previous weekend, he posted a goal and an assist in Dubuque's 8-1 trouncing of the Fargo Force. Eiserman's 3 goals and 2 assists over the three-game stretch bumped his point production up to 12 points in 17 games.
On the November "Players to Watch" list, the NHL Central Scouting Service identified Shane Eiserman as a candidate for selection in the 2nd or 3rd round of the 2014 NHL Draft. The last UNH forward to be drafted that highly was James van Riemsdyk who was the second overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft.

The statistics for the recruits, presented in the table, are categorized by the year the player and UNH coaches have targeted for enrollment in UNH. For example, the "2014 Recruits" have a target of the Fall of 2014 to begin playing for UNH.
