Close-Out Sale: UNH 2 - Lowell 0 Final

Late start for me as I got some family time in tonight.

After two periods it's 1-0 'Cats on Peter LeBlanc's goal from Dries and Butler at 11:25 of the first.

Beginning of the Third Period

Lowell is buzzing for the tying goal with the now defunct powerplay but Foster and the 'Cats are shutting them down with the shots at 26-17 in favor of the 'Cats.

Less than 15 minutes to play.

UNH Powerplay with about 13 minutes to play.

A lot of pressure in the Wildcat end but Foster is up to the task. About 5 minutes to play.

Shots currently sit at 33-27, out-shooting the 'Cats 13 to 8 in the third.

4 minutes to play.

1:29 to play, Lowell net is empty.

Empty-net goal by Sislo, from van Riemsdyk and Kapstad at 1:19

2-0 'Cats!

1 minute to play!

Lowell had the third best scoring offense in Hockey East and second best defense coming into the game.

Big scrum at the end.

And THAT, Nation, is a convincing win.

Brian Foster had 29 saves.

Final shots 35-29.

Do you think we should expect bad blood saturday night? I know these teams have had a few scuffles in the past and it sounds like the end of tonight's game wasn't the friendliest.

Absolutely.

There has been bad blood between these two teams almost every year. Lowell plays a hard-nosed, chippy game and UNH guys often take exception.

Most HE teams develop some rough rivalry and being the third game between the two always means a little more fuel for the fire.

It ought to be an intense, energetic game - always fun to see one of these.
