Devastated: NHPTV To Cease Airing Games

It was announced on June 6th, in the title-linked post, that New Hampshire Public Television will no longer broadcast University of New Hampshire Men's Hockey Games.

A sad day for UNH Hockey.

NHPTV was the first public television station to carry college hockey games and has won numerous awards for that coverage.

Thank you NHPTV for all of the years of coverage that I've enjoyed - it goes without saying that the content of this blog will suffer greatly without the resource that you've provided for Wildcat Nation season after season.

In more upbeat news, Brad Flaishans led a group of seven UNH men's hockey players as selections to the Hockey East Academic All-Star Team.

Way to go guys!

Wow, what a disappointment. I know that there's an online option for viewing all UNH athletic events but man, that one's expensive.

Will we even see any games on TV now?

I can't recommend the online viewing due to numerous bad reviews from trusted fan sources.

As for games on TV we may well be limited to the one WMUR game and the NESN Friday Night College Hockey Games which don't start until January.

I'm still reeling from the news and I'm sure that the fans, myself included, who've relied on NHPTV for the games are going to be feeling quite empty come October.

Any developments? I haven't seen any news on UNH's site or anything.

Nothing.

I'll put some feelers out and leave anyone reading this to chime in but I've seen no major outcry and in the face of such apathy I don't think we'll see any significant resolution especially with the current economic situation.

Time shall tell.
