Future 'Cats - Today's USHL Stars

Phil DeSimone has earned the Player of the Year mantle in the USHL! Having scored 26 goals and 47 assists for 73 points in 60 games Phil has consistently lead his Sioux City Musketeers all year long - as any captain should. According to his coach in the title-linked article he has scored more than a point per game in his last 90 games. Congratulations Phil and good luck in the playoffs!

But it doesn't stop there. RBK First Team All-USHL goaltender and Future 'Cat, Matt DiGirolamo (remember it's DEE-zhur-AWL-a-mo), was honored as well. Matt finished the season having played 33 games amassing a 2.54 GAA and a .905 save-percentage. His record between the pipes was a terrific 22 wins and 9 loses with 3 shutouts. Congrats Matt - I don't know how much luck the Blackhawks need in the playoffs considering they were tops in the league but, good luck!

Matt's comrade and goaltender's best friend (or worst enemy sometimes), fellow Waterloo Blackhawk, defenseman Blake Kessel was respected with a nod to the Center Trophy USHL All-Rookie Team. In his first year in the USHL Blake was the top point-getting d-man on his team with 11 goals and 27 assists - 38 points in 59 games, finishing with a +12 rating! Congratulations Blake and good luck!

Congrats to all of our Future 'Cats and their outstanding seasons! All of you get healthy and stay healthy! Feel free to email me with updates on your health or team moves.

As always...

Go 'Cats!
